A concrete drop bucket being lowered to a pier form on the new Batchellerville Bridge in Edinburg, NY. Engineers from the NYSDOT said it takes 150 cubic yards of concrete to fill each pier, or the equivalent of 15 truckloads. The concrete is being pumped through a pipe wrapped in burlap and being kept cool buy sprays of lake water, as it moves along the existing Batchellerville Bridge to the pier site. A concrete drop bucket is filled, then hoisted with a crane where workers direct it to the rebar enforced form.
