GLOVERSVILLE — David Karpinski, Executive Director of the Parkhurst Field Foundation, and Mike Hauser, Vice President of the non-profit foundation, have announced plans for the fifth annual Vintage Baseball Game and Fundraiser for the Field of Dreams Capital Campaign, to be held Aug. 6 at Parkhurst Field.
Gates will open at 11 a.m. and the festivities will start with a 12-year-old all-star vintage game between the Buckskins and the Glovers, two teams who originally faced off locally in the late 1800s.
Each team will be wearing throwback uniforms and will be made up of local Little League stars.
The Vintage Baseball Game at 1 p.m. will match up the local JAGs team with a roster of former Gloversville Little League players, with the Whatley Pioneers of Massachusetts and will be played in vintage jerseys using MLB rules from 1886.
The Fulton County Baseball and Sports Hall of Fame will be inducting 1951 Gloversville Glover Ralph Vitti, who had a successful movie career and appeared in over 30 movies and 150 television shows, including Star Trek, over the past six decades under the stage name Michael Dante.
This year’s event will be free to the public, but will be a fundraiser for the Field of Dreams Capital Campaign for Parkhurst Field.
The foundation has launched an online mobile fundraising platform and hope to raise up to $50,000 towards its campaign goal of $2.3 million.
