Megan J. Lent Cionek

Mrs. Megan J. Lent Cionek, 36, of Broadalbin, NY died suddenly on Friday, April 4, 2014 at home. Born in Amsterdam, NY on August 4, 1977, she was one of four children to James and Sharyn Horton Lent.
A lifelong area resident, Megan was a 1995 graduate of Amsterdam High School. Following graduation she became a foreign exchange student, and continued her education for one year abroad. Megan returned to the area to become a wife and a mother. She was devoted to her husband and her two children.
Megan also worked for Liberty Enterprises as a caregiver at the Van Dyke Avenue Home.
Megan enjoyed camping, reading and going on motorcycle rides. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 11 years, Daniel W. Cionek; her two children, Shanleigh and Daniel Jr., her parents, James and Sharyn Lent; her siblings, James M. Lent and his wife Angel, Macayla Smith and Christopher J. Lent; her grandmother, Doris Horton; her mother and father in law, Wendy Cappello and Gregory Cionek, and her grandmother in law, Sonja Cionek; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours were held Tuesday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
A private funeral service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to her children’s education c/o Daniel W. Cionek.

Michael Patrick O’Brien

Michael Patrick O’Brien, 29, of W. Main Street, Broadalbin died suddenly on March 31, 2014 in Phoenix, AZ. Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 14, 1984 he was the son of Edmund and Mildred Grey O’Brien.
A lifelong area resident, Michael was a 2002 graduate of Amsterdam High School. At the age of 17 he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps. and served proudly until 2006. During that time he traveled the world and was a part of one tour of duty in Iraq. At the time of his death he was involved in the Veteran Apprentice Program and was a truck driver for Werner Inc.
Survivors include his parents; his wife, Kayla Braender O’Brien and his four children, Lillian, Breana, Michael Jr. and Leland, all at home; his five sisters, Renea Pacheco, Patricia Payne, Maureen O’Brien, Mary O’Brien and Megan Neilson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Thursday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
Interment with full military honors took place at at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.

Susie Patricia Turo

Susie Patricia Turo, 78, Broadalbin, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday morning at Albany Medical Center.
Born in the Town of Amsterdam on Oct. 7, 1935, one of eight children of the late Lester A. and Susie V. Shaw Kruger, she lived in this area her entire life.
She was employed for a time at the Hagaman Manufacturing and retired as an assembler for Miller Printing in Amsterdam. A home maker, she was a loving mom and a great cook.
She was a devoted member of the Kingsboro Assembly of God in Gloversville, and at one time a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Amaranth. Susie had a loving nature, “To know her as a friend is to have a friend for life!”
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert F. Turo Sr., on November 19, 1999 and brothers Henry, Lester and Charles Kruger.
She leaves her children; Susie V. (Aron) Aguilera of Hagaman, Alicia A. (William Sr.) Mason of Amsterdam and Robert F. Turo Jr. of Broadalbin; grandchildren; Richard Monroe Jr., William Mason Jr., Daniel Turo, Regina Duma, Robert F. Turo III, Aron Aguilera II, and Jenna Turo; great grandchildren; Cierra Hayner, Corenna and Troy Monroe, Sydney Palmatier, Kobi and Hailey Mason, Angelina and Ronin Duma and Landan Turo; sisters Jean Sawyer of Broadalbin, Norma Sowle of Gloversville, Marion Frye of Amsterdam and Betty Anderson of Pennsylvania; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were Thursday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. with Pastor Rob Phillips officiating. Interment is in Hagaman Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Kingsboro Assembly of God, The ALS Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Carmela I. Vigliotti

Carmela I. Vigliotti, 73, passed away peacefully Monday at her home.
Born in Amsterdam on February 1, 1941, the daughter of the late Sisto and Mary DeVito Vigliotti, she lived in this area most of her life. Prior to her retiring, she was employed in technical services at the Schenectady Library. Carmela was a devoted mother known and loved for her famous cooking, baking, love for nature and a generous spirit.
She leaves her son Alfred (Roberta) Jones of Galway; daughters Maria Bendino of Amsterdam, Lisa (Joseph) Brown of Schenectady, Angel Jones of Gloversville and Sherry Prince of Schenectady; a sister Josephine Gizzi of Baltimore MD., six grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother Giovanni “John” Vigliotti.
A service to celebrate her life was held Thursday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue.
