NORTHVILLE - The Sacandaga Valley Arts Network began its 2012 concert series Sunday with a performance by Adirondack harpist Martha Gallagher.
The concert was held in the Northville First United Methodist Church hall before a packed house. Gallagher provide a one-woman show featuring songs and storytelling.
According to Gallagher, she has been sharing her distinctive and richly varied performances with audiences for more than 30 years. She has a diverse musical background; from classical flute in a symphony orchestra to lead singer in rock and jazz/blues bands.
“Music is a part of our life,” she said. “How sad it would be to live in a world without music. Let the music touch the spirit that hears it.”
The audience was also offered a light fare supper prepared by the Northville UMC Mens Club, featuring chili, desserts and refreshments.
The next SVAN Music for the Valley concert is scheduled Sunday, Feb. 12, at Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center’s Tuulen Tupa Grill at 5:30 p.m.

Advanced tickets are required for the performance. The cost is $10 for SVAN members, and $12 for the general public. Call (518) 863-8047.
Beginning at 4 p.m., a light fare supper will be offered for $10.50 including tax and tip. On the menu will be a choice of chili with cornbread; minestrone soup, roll and tossed salad (vegetarian) or Lohi, a Finnish salmon casserole with beet salad, dessert, coffee and tea.
