BROADALBIN — The 2017 Matthew W. Phillips Memorial Benefit is set for May 20 at 2 p.m. at Robin’s Nest, 230 Stever Mills Road.
The Matthew W. Phillips Memorial Award will be given to a volunteer firefighter in good standing who is graduating from high school from either Fulton or Saratoga counties.
Phillips was a fourth generation volunteer firefighter who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on July 5, 2014. At the age of 14, he joined Explorer Post 5012 with the Perth Volunteer Fire Company. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout by hosting a Community Fire Safety Day at the fire station. He joined the Providence Volunteer Fire Department and at the age of 22 he was elected captain. He had been employed by the Saratoga County Highway Dept. This fund has been established in his honor.
Admission/donation cost is $10 per person and includes food. Entertainment will be provided by TAILSPIN. There will be a cash bar.
