HOPE — On July 3, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reported on a drowning in the Town of Wells.
At 2:50 p.m., July 3, Corlous T Fisher 64 of Johnstown was tubing on the Sacandaga River with family when he lost contact with his tube and disappeared under the water. Fisher and his family were visiting the Sacandaga Campground day use area.
A search was initiated by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, NYS Forest Rangers, Wells Fire and Ambulance personnel and Fly Cars from Fulton County Ambulance Service. Fisher was located in the Sacandaga River in the Town of Hope and retrieved by Sheriff’s personnel and NYS Forest Rangers with the Forest Ranger’s Air Boat. Fisher was not wearing a life vest. Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene by Hamilton County Coroner John Anderson.
