Gloversville man charged after allegedly fracturing infant’s skull
According to a Gloversville Police Department release, at approximately 7 a.m. on Sept. 9 members of the GPD Patrol Division and the Detective Division responded to the emergency room of Nathan Littauer Hospital for the report of an infant who had a sustained traumatic injury to his head. Detectives interviewed the mother, who advised them that she had been involved in a violent domestic incident with the father. She allegedly said the father punched the infant in the head, and police allege the partially closed fist punch resulted in the infant sustaining a fractured skull amongst other serious physical injuries.
Andrew S. Allen, 31, of 6 Cherry St., Apt. 2, was charged with first degree assault, a class B felony, first degree reckless endangerment, a class D felony, and second degree attempted assault, a class E felony.
Allen was arraigned in Gloversville City Court by Judge Traci DiMezza and remanded to the Fulton County Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail, $100,000 bond.
The GPD was assisted by members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Forensic Investigation Unit. Detectives, in conjunction with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, drafted and executed a search warrant at 6 Cherry St., Apt. 2. The scene was processed by members of the Forensic Investigation Unit.
