Fulton and Montgomery counties have a multitude of events, including fireworks and musical performances, on tap throughout the weekend to celebrate Independence Day.
The Great Sacandaga Lake will be abuzz with events throughout the weekend beginning Friday with Sport Island Pub’s annual Independence Day Breakfast Club. Doors open at 8 a.m. with a performance by Saving Atlantis at 9 a.m.
Other performances lined up at Sport Island Pub are Maddhaus at 9 p.m. Saturday and Mitch Frasier at 2 p.m. Sunday.
A fireworks display will be held July 9 over the Sacandaga Lake at dusk.
Lanzi’s on the Lake will have their fireworks display over the Sacandaga Lake Tuesday at dusk.
Pine Lake Park will hold their fireworks display Monday at 9:30 p.m. Cost is a $5 parking donation.
The village of Northville will hold their Doins Celebration Friday through Sunday in the Waterfront Park. Activities for the weekend include carnival rides, games, music and face painting.
The celebration is will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday. Saturday will begin at noon with a parade slated for 1 p.m. and a fireworks display at dusk. Sunday’s part of the celebration will run from noon to 4 p.m.
After their game against the Utica Blue Sox, the Amsterdam Mohawks will hold a post-game fireworks show Friday. The game begins 6:35 p.m. at Shuttleworth Park.
The team will then hold their annual holiday post-game fireworks show presented by the Amsterdam Rotary and the Office for the Aging NY Connects Monday at Shuttleworth Park. The Amsterdam Mohawks play against the Albany Dutchmen at 6:35 p.m..
The Riverlink Concert Series will continue Saturday with a free performance by Suitcase Junket, a one man band with a “road-worn voice” and a “tubed-amped dumpster guitar,” according to their website. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at Riverlink Park.
The park will also hold Fourth of July festivities on Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. for free. The musical lineup for the day includes MVCKids, MVC Youth Chorale and the River Valley Ringers, along with a performance by the Alex Torres Band at 6 p.m. and the Albany Symphony with their Water Music NY program with the world premiere of “An Erie Canal Desinential” under the direction of Conductor of David Allen Miller at 8 p.m. Songs will include “Stars and Stripes.”
Fireworks will also be held at the park on Tuesday.
According to the City of Amsterdam Recreation’s website, a Patriotic Paddle Kayak Excursion, which consists of a paddle down the Mohawk River to listen to the symphony at the park, will be held Tuesday from 7 to 10 p.m. Individuals can rent a kayak or bring their own and the cost is $20. The village of Fonda will hold their After the Fourth Celebration on July 8 beginning at 3 p.m., in the Recreation Park. Activities, such as bounce houses and a dunk booth, and vendors will be apart of the day’s festivities. Fireworks will be held at dusk, around 9:45 p.m.
The village of Fort Plain will hold their Fourth on the Third Celebration Monday at Wiles Park. A day packed with events will begin at 8 a.m. with a free fishing derby and sign ups can be completed at Sportsman’s Den.
Activities planned include a bounce house, inflatable slide, obstacle courses, craft fair booths, bingo, a lumberjack show, pony rides and a petting zoo.
The musical lineup for the event is as follows the Linda Mac and Country Memories at 1 p.m., Against the Grayne at 4 p.m. and True Grit Outlaws at 7 p.m.
