The Broadalbin-Perth boys track and field team will be well-represented at the state championship meet this coming Friday and Saturday at Union Endicott High School outside of Binghamton. Senior thrower Jeff Derwin, who will attend Binghamton University in the fall, won the Division 2 shot put and discus throw during the Section II state qualifying meet last Thursday at Shenendehowa High School. Derwin is making his third consecutive trip to the outdoor state meet and currently leads all New York high schoolers in the shot put and is third in the discus. Joining Derwin will be the 4×100-meter relay team of Ivan Roberts, Zach Johnson, Jake Bunker and Ivan Roberts, which was victorious at the state qualifying meet in a time of 44.53 seconds.
