Special thank you for successful event

To the editor:

Many thanks to all who supported the September 11th Chicken Barbeque sponsored by the Mayfield Historical Society. It was very successful.

Special thanks to Kevin and Tracey Chaffee, owners of the Mayfield Grill, for allowing us the use of their facility and grounds for our event.

We used their facilities for for food preparation and refrigeration. We had good weather but if had it rained, they would have opened their banquet room for our patrons.

Kevin set up a tent and provided us with outdoor tables and chairs. Their community spirit and generosity is very much appreciated.

The members and friends of the Mayfield Historical Society provided us with 43 dozen delicious varieties of cookies. Thanks to all the bakers and  to all who sold tickets, prepared potatoes and salad, helped set up, made donations, and promoted the event.

Finally, the Mayfield Historical Society is especially grateful to Trustee Bart Warner and his wife, Valerie, for the excellent job of planning, organizing and coordinating the entire event.

The Mayfield Historical Society will use a portion of the proceeds for the ongoing interior restoration work at the Rice Homestead.  

Much interior work was completed on the first floor in 2010. Next, we will begin work upstairs.
