BROADALBIN — Dominic Kwiatkowski scored a pair of goals and added an assist as the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots overpowered Schuylerville, 4-0, in a Section II Class B boys soccer quarterfinal Saturday at Patriot Field.
Kwiatkowski opened the scoring in the 13th minute when he collected a nice feed from strike partner Ben Bellandi, beat a defender and finished into the side netting. B-P (14-0-3) then made it 2-0 in the 39th minute when Kwiatkowski teed up Tucker Wilcox for a bolt from 18 yards out.
Bellandi extended the lead for the Foothills Council champions to 3-0 eight minutes into the second half, taking a pass from Wilcox and squeezing a shot inside the near post past the Schuylerville keeper before Kwiatkowski finished off the scoring by burying a shot after a combination play with Bellandi.
Patriots goalkeeper Madison Wilcox needed to make just two saves to notch his 12th shutout of the season, while Pat Castle and Raul Mejia split duty in goal for Schuylerville (7-10-0), with each making four saves.
With the win, B-P moves on to Thursday’s Class B semifinal at Johnstown, where the Patriots will take on the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal between Schalmont and Coxsackie-Athens.
