Broadalbin-Perth wins first contest
BROADALBIN — The wait is over.
After going winless over the first seven games of the season, the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots finally broke into the win column last Friday night, as Ben Bellandi scored 14 points to pace a 58-36 victory over Hudson Falls in Foothills Council boys basketball action.
R.J. Pingitore chipped in 13 points for the Patriots (13-10), who outscored Hudson Falls in every quarter and held the Tigers to just three points in the final eight minutes to prevent a rally.
Mark Sylvia added 10 points and Dominic Kwiatkowski scored nine to aid B-P’s cause.
Robert Young had nine points and Matt Connolly scored eight for the Tigers, but leading scorer Ryan Rosenblum was limited to just two points — the first time he’d been held to single digits since Dec. 12 against Granville.
Scotia-Glenville 86, Broadalbin-Perth 42
Joe Cremo scored 15 points and Chris Zanta added 14 as the Tartans scored 23 points in each of the first three quarters to overwhelm B-P.
Brad Callahan scored nine points for Scotia, while Andrew Tabbert and Casey Norton each scored eight to help the Tartans lead 23-4 after the first quarter and 46-15 at halftime.
R.J. Pingitore scored 17 points to lead the Patriots (1-9, 1-6 Foothills).
Western Athletic Conference
St. Johnsville 54, Mayfield 49
Dylan Klock knocked down five 3-pointers on his way to 17 points, and the Saints rode a 22-point effort in the third quarter to edge Mayfield.
Jonny Viccerialli also had 17 points for St. Johnsville (2-7, 2-4 WAC), while Alex Hart added 10 points.
Andrew Haschytz paced the Panthers (6-6, 3-5) with 20 points and Dylan Toscano added 16.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Foothills Council
Hudson Falls 37, Broadalbin-Perth 32
Ellie Gonyeau had 12 points as the Lady Tigers held off a late charge from B-P to notch a home win.
Marissa Huntington chipped in 10 points for Hudson Falls.
B-P (7-4. 1-4 Foothills) got a team-high eight points from Kaitlin Wood and seven apiece from Kylie Gifford and MacKenzie Ottati.
Scotia-Glenville 49, Broadalbin-Perth 26
Cassie Broadhead poured in a game-high 18 points, and the Lady Tartans held Broadalbin-Perth to just six points in the first half to cruise to victory.
Sarah Janson chipped in 10 points and Monica Compton scored eight for Scotia-Glenville.
Kaitlin Wood knocked down a trio of 3-pointers on her way to a team-high 13 points for Broadalbin-Perth.
Western Athletic Conference
St. Johnsville 38, Mayfield 18
Four different St. Johnsville players scored at least six points, and the Lady Saints held Mayfield to two points in the first quarter before cruising to a win.
Samantha Cleveland led St. Johnsville with nine points, Vikki Reynolds added eight, Emily Christman had seven and Rylie Smith scored six.
Killian Horney and Jessica Glode each had four points to lead Mayfield.
