By MICHAEL KELLY/For the Express

BROADALBIN -- A few years back, Anna Smith was pretty much forced onto the track and field team at Broadalbin-Perth.
"I didn't really do it because I wanted to," she says. "I did it for social reasons."
After her friends joined the B-P modified team when Smith was in seventh grade -- "They were all doing it and I was just chilling at my house," she says -- Smith went out for the team the next year.
One problem: In general, track and field requires a good deal of ...

Again, in dramatic fashion, the Lady Braves took home the championship on a day in which the near-constant rain did not dampen the event's spirit. F-F stayed undefeated in its tournament, ...

By RON KOLODZIEJ

TUMAN'S ONE-DAY TURKEY CONTEST
Twenty-three two-person teams were entered in the annual Tuman's Tavern, Amsterdam, one-day turkey contest held last Sunday, May 5.
The heat may have impacted the birds behavior in much the same manner as it did the fish a day earlier in the annual GSLFF Spring Contest because only three teams managed to score doubles, though several more of the teams did score with one bird anyway.
First place went to Nate Craig, Fonda, and Justin Craig, Amsterda ...

Winners announced in spring fishing contest

By RON KOLODZIEJ

GSLFF CONTEST RESULTS

Fishing was a tad slower than expected but that was likely due to the cloudless skies and bright sunshine. A cloudy day and a light "walleye chop" might have been better but I didn't hear any of the anglers complaining.
George Drygula of Amsterdam took first place ...
