MAYFIELD - At Tuesday nights Mayfield Central School Board of Education meeting, Mayfield-Northville Committee Member, Beth Croft shared how the group has devoted hours of time in conversation at their monthly meetings to gather data for the possible merger of the two school districts.
Croft stated members from both Mayfield and Northville developed information that was provided to the consultants so they could build their report.
The Mayfield Central School Board of Education will have the first opportunity to look over what the consultant’s draft soon.
Mayfield Superintendent Paul Williamsen, stated the anticipated in the time line of December to January, they can expect to have the draft prepared for discussion from the consultants.
The two communities will then have meetings to further discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the merger.
According to Williamsen, if successful there could be a referendum vote mid July, with a merge date as early as July 2013.
In other news: Mayfield resident Robert Phillips, spoke to the school board passing out a copy of 2011 Town of Mayfield Comprehensive Plan Survey to high school seniors, and encouraged the public to also fill out the form.
“It is important for Mayfield to see five, ten and even 20 years ahead into the future where the town is heading and It’s good to get students involved as they will be the future of our town” said Phillips.
Mayfield’s Comprehensive Plan is reviewed every 10 years. The survey can also be viewed on the Town’s website MayfieldNY.org.
The next scheduled Mayfield Board of Education meeting is Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.
