Brooke Zimmermann

With a cumulative weighted GPA of 90.57, Brooke is part of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. She has been a member of several clubs while in high school including Brainstorm, Yearbook, SADD, and Paint Crew and has been a part of Mayfield soccer and softball teams since 2008. She was the vice president of the junior class and served as public relations representative for SADD in 2010. Most notably, this student has played billiards nearly all her life and is a 3 time Junior American Poolplayers Association 8 ball champion. Next year, she will attend Hudson Valley Community College to pursue a degree in Radiology.
Laken MacFarland

With a weighted cumulative GPA of 90.83, she is honored as part of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. Laken has played softball, soccer and basketball at Mayfield High School. She was team captain for her JV and varsity soccer teams. She participated in Junior Honor Society, Key Club, National Honor Society, was the secretary of SADD, Paint Crew (Drama), Post Prom Committee, Student Council and Band. She is also a member of the Youth Group at the Church of the Holy Spirit. In the fall, she plans to attend Utica College to major in heath studies and occupational therapy.
Anthony Buseck

With a GPA of 90.97, Anthony is a member of the Class of 2012’s honor guard. He has been member of the basketball team since 2007 and was a member of the senior high choir throughout high school. This year, he participated in the New Visions Health Careers program through HFM BOCES at Nathan Littauer Hospital, where he gained experience in the field of medicine. As a junior, he was awarded the St. Lawrence Book Award, which recognizes a student’s service to school and community as well as academic excellence. He has also earned the NYS Academic Excellence Award given by the Education Department as a result of his high Regents test scores. Next year, he will attend the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Emily Frasier

With a GPA of 91.48, Emily is honored as part of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. Emily was a member of the volleyball and track and field teams and was active in Drama Club, Student Council and Band. She served as an editor of the Yearbook this year, and press officer for National Honor Society. Next year, she will attend SUNY Institute of Technology to pursue a degree in business administration.
Andrea Rockwell

With a cumulative weighted gpa of 91.84, Andrea is part of the class of 2012’s Honor Guard. She has been in Band, has served as co president of volleyball club from 2008 ñ 2012, and a member of National Honor Society and Key Club throughout high school. As a junior, she was awarded the Wells 21st Century Leadership Award which recognizes her for contributions she has made to her school and community. In the fall, she will attend SUNY Plattsburgh to study secondary education with a focus in History.
Whitney Ostrander

With a cumulative weighted GPA of 92.64, Whitney is honored as part of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. She has played Volleyball, basketball, softball, Track and Field and was a member of the National Honor Society while at Mayfield High School. She has served in leadership roles as co president of the volleyball club and captain of the volleyball team. She has also played with the Caroga Lake Volleyball Club and Mohawk Valley Thunder Softball team. She was named WAC MVP for volleyball and First team Allstar in Volleyball. She was awarded the Scholar Athlete Award by The Sports Foundation of the Capital Region. Next year, she will attend Herkimer County Community College to study physical therapy.
Margo Derby

With a cumulative weighted GPA of 93.01, Margo is a member of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. She has been involved in concert band and jazz band, Junior Honor Society, was secretary of National Honor Society, Student Council, was elected to her class council, was a yearbook editor, played soccer and ran cross country. In 2010, she was awarded the Violet Richardson Community Service Award given by the Soroptimists. She was also named WAC All star in soccer and cross country. As part of the Mayfield Youth Group, she has gone on missions to Guatemala, Maine and Harlem where she has participated in a variety of community service oriented projects. Last year, she was awarded the St. Michaels Book Award given to a student who demonstrates a commitment to their school and community. Next year, she looks forward to attending the University of Rhode Island as part of the honors nursing program.
Hannah Sweet

With a weighted cumulative GPA of 93.39, Hannah is a member of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. Hannah participated in Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society and was vice president of Student Council in 2010. She played soccer, basketball and softball and while on the JV basketball and softball teams, she served as captain. Last year, she was awarded the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award for the Humanities and Social Sciences from the University of Rochester. She plans on attending FMCC in the fall and will transfer to a four year college to study psychology.
Nicholas Petricca

Earning a weighted cumulative GPA of 93.5, Nick is a member of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. Nick was a member of Junior Honor Society, Vice President of National Honor Society, Masterminds, and was lead percussionist for both band and Jazz Ensemble. He was a Captain of the varsity bowling and golf and a member of the baseball team. Nick was chosen by his peers for the Daughter’s of American Revolution Award and was a student representative on the Shared Decision Making Team and the Mayfield-Northville Merger Committee. He is a recipient of the Mayfield Coach’s Acheivement Award. In the fall, he will attend North-western Preparatory School in California with the intention of entering the United States Air Force Academy in 2013.

With a weighted cumulative GPA of 93.73, Heather is part of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. Last year, Heather was awarded the LeMoyne College Heights Award which is given to a student who strives for success in the classroom. This year, she attended FMCC as an early admit student, pursuing a degree in Business while completing her high school requirements. In the fall, she will resume her coursework at FMCC in the hopes of graduating in May 2013 with a degree in business.

With a cumulative weighted GPA of 93.71, Caitlyn is honored as part of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. Caitlyn has been President of National Honor Society for the past two years and was an officer of Student Council for the past four years. She has been involved in the Drama Club throughout high school and was student director of the school musical for the past two years. She has been a member of the choir, yearbook, key club and GSA as well as the junior honor society. She has participated in volleyball since 7th grade and was team captain in 10th and 12th grades. She was also part of the basketball, track and field and softball teams. As a junior, she received the RIT Medal and the Student Sage award from Russell Sage College. She is a recipient of the Mayfield Coach’s Acheivement Award and the Top Scholar Athlete Award. In the fall, she will attend Russell Sage College to study business.

With a weighted cumulative GPA of 93.40, Michael is part of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. As a sophomore, he volunteered as a mentor at the elementary school with the Adirondack Mentoring Partners program. Last year, he was awarded the RIT Computing Medal for his keen interest and ability in the field of technology as well as the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology from the University at Rochester. In the fall, he will attend FMCC for his first two years, then transfer to another institution to complete a degree in Computer Engineering.
Mitchell Brower

With a weighted cumulative GPA of 94.80, Mitchell is a part of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. Mitch has been a member of Junior Honor Society, SADD, Masterminds, National Honor Society and Band. As part of the Mayfield Youth Group, he has participated in several mission trips to Guatemala, West Virginia, Maine and Harlem performing community services in each of these areas. This year, he chose to get an early start on college by attending FMCC as part of their early admit program. Mitch plans to attend Clarkson University next year to study civil engineering.
David Krutz

Third in his class, with a weighted cumulative GPA of 95.25, David is member of the Class of 2012’s Honor Guard. David was a WAC All-Star and part of the league championship team for cross-country. He was the nordic ski team captain and was part of a 4X4 relay team that went to states for track. He is a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. This year, he served as treasurer of the National Honor Society. He has received a NYS Academic Excellence Award given by the Education Department as a result of his high Regents test scores and was awarded The Scholar Athlete Award by The Sports Foundation of the Capital Region. He will be attending RPI in the fall to major in nuclear engineering with a possible dual major in mechanical engineering.
John Donnan

Earning a cumulative weighted GPA of 95.86, making him the Class of 2012’s salutatorian. John has been active in SADD, National Honor Society, Junior Honor Society, Prom Committee and Masterminds throughout high school. He has played soccer since he was in 7th grade was captain of the soccer team in addition to being named 1st team all-star. He is an active member of the Baptist Church of Northville, The Mayfield Community Youth Group and was active in Boy Scouts through 10th grade. Through the youth group, he has participated in humanitarian missions to Peru, Food Pantry Collections, and Friday’s Table Soup Kitchen. This year, he attended FMCC as an early admit student. This year, he was recognized as one of WNYT’s 13 Kids Who Care as he worked to help Schoharie County business owners clean up after the floods. Last year, he received the Clarkson Leadership Award in recognition of his contributions to his school and community and this fall he will attend Clarkson University to study engineering.
Matthew Montgomery

With a cumulative weighted GPA of 99.62, Matt is the Class of 2012’s Valedictorian. He has been the Captain of Masterminds, a member of National Honor Society, SADD, Junior Honor Society, the golf team, Track and Field team, cross country team, and the nordic ski team. He has also participated in the Mayfield Jazz Band since tenth grade. As a member of the Mayfield Presbyterian Church Youth Group, he participated in mission trips to NYC to feed hungry families and provide the homeless with supplies. Last year, he received the Bausch and Lomb Science Award from the University of Rochester. This year, he has been awarded a NYS Academic Excellence Award given by the Education Department as a result of his high Regents test scores. This fall, he will attend Vassar College to study biochemistry.
