New elementary principal named

The Board of Education of the Northville Central School District appointed Mr. William Crankshaw to the position of elementary building principal at its public meeting held Thursday, Aug. 26.

The appointment was by a  3 to 1 vote of the board of education. Board member Barbara Sperry cast the dissenting vote. Sperry recently retired from the Northville Elementary School Building Principal position June of this year. Board member Rev. Kirianne Riehl was excused from the meeting.

Crankshaw currently serves as building principal at Glebe Street Elementary School in the Greater Johnstown School District, a position that he has held for the past four years. Prior to that appointment, he served as a choral music teacher in Johnstown and Canajoharie School Districts. Crankshaw holds a bachelors degree in music education from Ithaca College, a masters degree in music education from the College of St. Rose and is a doctoral candidate in the educational administration program at The Sage Graduate College. He also holds a New York State licenses as a School Administrator-Supervisor and School District Administrator. Crankshaw who will earn an annual salary of $85,000 is excepted to begin work in the Northville School District in late September. He was one of two finalists for the position.
