JOHNSTOWN -- A Mayfield man, who has been named a person of interest in

the death of his wife, was released from the Fulton County Correctional

Facility Wednesday afternoon after posting bail.

He was being held on unrelated charges.

Brent "Scott" Alling, 42, was arrested last week and charged with

driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer, as

well as several additional traffic violations. He was being held on

$2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.

According to jail Sgt. Keith Ackerknecht, Alling was bonded out at

approximately 4 p.m.

Ackerknecht said he did not know who arranged for the bond because the

release was arranged by a bail bondsman.

Alling's release occurred little more than 24 hours after he appeared in

Mayfield Town Court for an arraignment proceeding in which his

attorney, Robert Abdella, told the court that he believed Alling's bail

to be excessive and would likely file a motion in Supreme Court to have

it reduced.

The nude body of Alling's wife, 54-year-old Kathryn Jackson Alling, was

found on Tyrrell Road in Mayfield on June 4. The investigation into her

death is ongoing. Authorities are currently awaiting the results of

toxicology tests.

Alling was pulled over and arrested on June 5, less than a mile from the

Delaney Road home the couple shared. At the time, authorities were en

route to the property to execute a search warrant.

Alling will return to Mayfield Town Court on Aug. 14.
