BROADALBIN -- Fulton County Sheriff Thomas J. Lorey said Thursday afternoon the search for two missing men will be suspended in the Great Sacandaga Lake for the time being.
Mark Richards, 51, and Brent Richards, 24, haven't been seen since Saturday morning, and were reported missing by Sunday night. Their car was found just off Lakeview Road in Broadalbin, and it was assumed they were out fishing.

Broadalbin-Perth residents approve 2013-14 budget proposal
BROADALBIN -- By a vote of 551 to 279, residents of the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District approved a $30,058,111 budget proposal for the 2013-14 school year. Under the approved budget, the district's tax levy is projected to increase 3.36 percent.
Residents also approved a proposition to purchase three 66-passenger school buses, 577 to 245.

Local election commissioners have mixed sentiments on state legislative bills that would respectively establish early voting, and loosen requirements that could disqualify affidavit ballots.

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced that Route 10 between routes 29 and Route 10A will be closed for the next two months for road work.
On Tuesday, Route 10 was closed to non-local traffic. NYSDOT maintenance forces will be performing various construction operations such as shoulder reconstruction, concrete joint repair and paving.

PERTH -- Fundraising efforts undertaken by the ladies' auxiliary of the Perth Volunteer Fire Company helped purchase new turnout gear for six firefighters this month.

BROADALBIN -- Few people attended the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District's public hearing on its approximate $30 million spending plan that will be voted on May 21.

NORTHVILLE — A small group of people gathered Monday evening at the corner of Bridge and Second streets near the site of the former Hubbell chimney to see what would happen as the migrating swifts returned to the village.
The Hubbell chimney was dismantled in December.
